Solar Energy in Israel
For a long time Israel has been a pioneer in the use of solar energy and. Currently Israel is placed first in the world in the use of solar energy per capita. But there is always room for improvement.
Given that Israel has to import all its natural energy resources and that 60% of the country contains large areas of desert, it would make perfect sense that the production of solar power has become a major industry.
Today there are more than 20 Israeli companies that manufacture not only solar panels but also devices that are directly powered by sunlight.
Furthermore, Israel has put many of its efforts into the research and development of new technologies that would allow it to transform Negev desert into an efficient source of solar energy.
